Established fifty years ago by band leader Billy Frenz, Billy and the Showmen has earned their reputation as one of Connecticut's most enduring Rhythm & Blues bands.
Longtime veterans of the Connecticut / New York club scene, the Showmen are a genuine R&B band, not the average wedding band that plays some R&B. If your taste runs toward lounge acts, look elsewhere. If you want a high-energy band that can rock the house, call us ! The Billy and the ShowmenR & B Revue feature the soulful vocals of the best R&B singers in the Northeast, a strong horn section and a tight rhythm section. The band has thrilled audiences for over 40 years performing throughout the Northeast Region and New York City. Billy and the Showmen specialize in hard-driving R&B, Soul, and Funk from the '60's and '70's. The band's repertoire includes the best of James Brown, Rick James, Percy Sledge, the Ohio Players, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett, Junior Welles, King Floyd, Average White Band, Tower of Power, Buddy Miles, Kool & the Gang, Otis Redding and classic Motown artists such as the Temptations and Sam & Dave. They are also the band behind BILLY VERA during his east coast performances, including the "Alive at Five" concert series in Stamford, CT., seen on VH-1 Music TV. They are the "East Coast Beaters" and back BV on all his east coast appearances. During the 70's and 80's they had "double-duty" as the back up band for THE CHIFFONS. Billy and the Showmen are based in Greenwich, CT, and can be seen in clubs throughout the southwest Connecticut / New York area.
